COVID-19: Record-high 15,902 new cases and 184 deaths today

Malaysia has recorded 15,902 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 996,393. This is a new record high of new cases reported in a single day since the start of the pandemic. There are 184 new deaths reported today and the death toll is now 7,902. For July so far, there are 2,732 deaths recorded which is an average of 113.8 deaths per day.

The Ministry of Health has reported 9,471 new recoveries and a total of 834,858 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 83.79% while the mortality rate is now 0.79%.

There are currently 153,633 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 950 are in ICU while 468 require respiratory support.

Out of the 15,902 new cases today, 25 are imported while 15,877 are transmitted locally.

Selangor recorded the most with 7,351 cases today, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 2,406 cases, Kedah with 867 cases and Johor with 804 cases.
