Malaysia has recorded 6,982 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 765,949. There are 73 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 5,327.
The Ministry of Health has reported 6,278 new recoveries and a total of 694,538 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 90.67% while the mortality rate is now 0.70%.
There are currently 66,084 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 905 are in ICU while 443 require respiratory support.
Out of the 6,982 new cases today, 3 are imported while 6,979 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 2,907 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 637 cases, Negeri Sembilan with 606 cases and Johor with 517 cases.
There are 17 new clusters identified today and 9 are workplace-related. According to the Ministry of Health, there’s a significant increase in brought-in-dead cases from April (35 cases) to June (246 cases) 2021.
