COVID-19: 5,293 new cases and 60 deaths today, almost 700,000 cases recorded since the start of pandemic

Malaysia has recorded 5,293 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 696,408. There are 60 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 4,408.

The Ministry of Health has reported 5,941 new recoveries and a total of 628,185 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 90.20% while the mortality rate is at 0.63%.

There are currently 63,815 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 880 are in ICU while 454 require respiratory support.

Out of the 5,293 new cases today, 7 are imported while 5,286 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 1,680 cases, followed by Negeri Sembilan with 693 cases, Sarawak with 661 cases and Johor with 627 cases.
