The Honor 50 series is launching this week and here are the leaked specs

The Honor 50 flagship series is launching this week and it’s expected to be one of the first smartphones to run on Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 778G chip with 5G. In terms of design, it looks somewhat similar to the upcoming Huawei P50 series as it features two large circular bumps at the rear. Ahead of the launch, serial leakster Ishan Agarwal has dropped a couple of images and hardware specs for all 3 Honor 50 models.

Honor 50 and Honor 50 Pro

Both the Honor 50 and Honor 50 Pro are expected to run on a Snapdragon 778G processor which was announced last month. The standard Honor 50 gets a 6.57″ display with a single selfie punch-hole camera, while the Honor 50 Pro features a larger 6.72″ screen with a 32MP + 12MP dual-selfie camera setup. Both models use OLED panels that push a Full HD+ resolution.

In the camera department, both models will come with a similar quad-camera setup featuring a 108MP f/1.9 main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor. The lack of a telephoto camera is quite disappointing especially for the “Pro” version.

In terms of battery, the Honor 50 Pro is expected to come with a 4,000mAh battery and it can support fast charging up to 100W. Interestingly, the smaller Honor 50 gets a slightly larger battery at 4,300mAh capacity but its fast charging is capped at 66W.

Honor 50 SE

Ishan has also shared details of the budget Honor 50 SE option. Despite being the entry-level option, it gets a large 6.78″ Full HD+ LCD display and it runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G chip.

In terms of cameras, the device gets a more basic triple-camera setup featuring a 100MP main sensor, 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2MP macro shooter. Powering the device is a 4,000mAh battery and it also supports 66W fast charging.

The hardware specs aren’t 100% confirmed at the moment and everything will be revealed during the launch which is scheduled for 16th June. It would be interesting to see if the Honor 50 series would come with Google Mobile Services pre-installed as this would be the biggest breakthrough for the brand after its “divorce” from Huawei.
