Malaysia has recorded 5,793 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 652,204. There are 76 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 3,844. In the past week, the country has recorded 553 deaths, which is an average of 79 deaths per day.
The Ministry of Health has reported 8,334 new recoveries which is a new record-high and a total of 572,113 patients have recovered and discharged so far. Malaysia has recorded more recoveries than new cases for 6 consecutive days. The recovery rate is now 87.72% while the mortality rate is at 0.59%.
There are currently 76,247 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 914 are in ICU while 459 require respiratory support.
Out of the 5,793 new cases today, 6 are imported while 5,787 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 1,582 cases, followed by Negeri Sembilan with 618 cases, Sarawak with 569 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 559 cases.
The Ministry of Health has identified 24 new clusters and 15 of them are workplace related. Below is the full list of identified clusters:
