COVID-19: Record-high 63 deaths and 7,478 new cases today, total active cases now over 66,000

Malaysia has recorded 7,478 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 533,367. This is a new record high and the country has recorded over 7,000 cases for two consecutive days. There are 63 new deaths reported which is also a record high and the death toll is now 2,432.

The Ministry of Health has reported 4,665 new recoveries and a total of 464,727 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 87.13% while the mortality rate is at 0.46%.

There are currently 66,208 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 756 are in ICU while 377 require respiratory support.

Out of the 7,478 new cases today, XX are imported while XX are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 2,455 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 760 cases and Sarawak with 640 cases. The states of Johor, Kedah and Kelantan record over 500 cases each.
