Touch ‘n Go RFID users will soon be able to pay for petrol at Shell with their RFID stickers. The digital payment provider has sent out an email inviting users to participate in the TNG RFID Fuelling Pilot Programme.
If you’ve received an email, just click on the link to register your interest. If you’re selected, you will receive up to RM20 eWallet credit to be among the first to try the new cashless payment option.
According to the email, the TNG RFID Fuelling will be introduced in just 5 stations and here’s the full list:
- Shell Bandar Sri Menjalara
- Shell Mint Hotel
- Shell NKVE Damansara
- Shell Taman Connaught
- Shell Taman Tun Dr Ismail
With this service, you won’t need to fiddle with cash, cards or even your smartphone. The plan to offer RFID payment for petrol payment was announced in February last year and we are told that the payment can be completed at the bay without any interaction with smartphones or point-of-sale system. After Fuelling your vehicle, you can check your payment details in the Touch ‘n Go eWallet app.
At the moment, Petronas is the only provider that offers mobile payment where you can pay before stepping out of your vehicle with its Setel app. Caltex is also running a pilot programme for a similar app that’s called CaltexGo.
