Redmi K40 Gaming Edition gets JBL Audio stereo speakers and 5060mAh battery with 67W charging

Xiaomi is revealing its Redmi K40 gaming edition today at 7.30pm which is expected to deliver flagship gaming experience in a more affordable price point. As teased earlier, the Redmi K40 will feature physical shoulder triggers which are similar to the Black Shark 3 Pro.

Ahead of the announcement, Redmi has dropped more clues of its hardware specs and features on its official Weibo page. As you would expect from a gaming device, it comes with a large 5,065mAh battery and supports 67W fast wired charging. To let people know that you’re holding a gaming device, the camera bump also features some RGB lighting.

The K40 gaming device comes with a flat OLED display with thin bezels. It is also expected to push a 120Hz refresh rate and it will be running on a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chip. As highlighted previously, the sides come with two pop-up shoulder buttons which claims to be tested over 1.5 million times for durability.

For a more immersive experience, the K40 gaming edition also gets a pair of stereo speakers which are tuned by JBL Audio. It also supports Hi-Res Audio and Dolby Atmos.

So far there’s no details of its pricing and it isn’t clear if this will be sold outside the China market. At the moment, the Redmi K40 is currently offered in Malaysia as a rebadged Poco F3. The Poco F3 is one of the most affordable flagship smartphones you can get right now and it’s offered from as low as RM1,299. It packs a Snapdragon 870 5G chip, a 6.67″ Full HD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and a 4,520mAh battery.

We are guessing that there’s a small possibility that the Redmi K40 gaming edition might be released globally as a new Poco F3 variant. In China, there’s also the Redmi K40 Pro and Pro+ which are powered by a Snapdragon 888 chip. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
