Huawei Malaysia unveils MateBook laptop series for 2021, priced from RM3,299

Huawei has announced a total of 5 new laptops today for the Malaysian market. This include the MateBook D, MateBook 14 and its flagship MateBook X Pro. All of them are powered by Intel processors and come with 16GB RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. Here’s everything you need to know.

Huawei MateBook D 14 and D 15

The Huawei MateBook D 14 and D 15 are officially priced as follows in Malaysia:

The MateBook D is Huawei’s entry-level series which comes with a Full HD (1920×1080) IPS display in either 14″ and 15.6″ sizes. For the 10th gen model, the laptops are running on Intel’s 10th gen Core i5 processor (10210U) with Intel UHD Graphics 620. If you’re looking for something newer, the D 15 11th gen model runs on Intel’s 11th gen Core i5 (1135G7) with Intel Iris Xe Graphics.

The MateBook D series features a pop-up webcam that’s hidden between the function keys and it also gets a power button with integrated fingerprint sensor. The laptop gets 3x USB-A ports (2x USB 2.0, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1), 1x HDMI port, a 3.5mm headphone jack and 1x USB-C port that supports 65W fast charging.

In terms of connectivity, both laptops support WiFi 6.0, Bluetooth 5.0 and has support for Huawei Share for multi-screen collaboration. The MateBook D 14 weighs 1.38kg while the larger D 15 weighs 1.53kg. The Huawei laptops are shipped with Windows 10 Home Edition (64-bit) out of the box. The MateBook D series is offered only in Mystic Silver.

Huawei MateBook 14

Moving up the notch is the Huawei MateBook 14 and it is officially priced at RM4,899 in Malaysia. It runs on 11th gen Intel Core i5 processor and comes with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD.

The MateBook 14 features a 14″ 2K IPS touch-screen display that pushes 2160×1440 pixels and it gets Intel Iris Xe Graphics. Similar to other Huawei laptops, it also gets a hidden pop-up webcam that sits between the function keys and a power button with integrated fingerprint sensor for instant unlocking.

In terms of ports, it gets 2x USB Type-A (USB 3.2 Gen 1), 1x HDMI, 3.5mm headphone jack and 1x USB-C port that supports 65W fast charging. The laptop also supports Huawei Share which can be activated by tapping a compatible Huawei device on the trackpad. The MateBook 14 weighs 1.49kg and it runs on Windows 10 Home Edition (64-bit). The MateBook 14 is offered only in Space Grey.

Huawei MateBook X Pro

The Huawei MateBook X Pro is the top-of-the-line offering at the moment and it’s priced at RM6,899. Available only in Emerald Green, the laptop also comes with an 11th gen Intel Core i5 processor (1135G7) with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD.

The biggest highlight is its 3K 13.9″ LTPS touch-screen display that pushes 3000×2000 pixels resolution and has a brightness of 450 nits. The laptop is 14.6mm thin and weighs 1.33kg.

Also included as standard is a hidden webcam on the top row keyboard keys and a power button with integrated fingerprint sensor. The MateBook X Pro also boasts a large Free Touch trackpad which offers haptic feedback.

In terms of connectivity, it also supports Bluetooth 5.1 and WiFi 6.0. The laptop comes with 1x USB-A port, 2x USB-C ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The MateBook X Pro also runs on Windows 10 Home 64-bit out of the box.

Pre-order promo

From 20th to 23rd April, Huawei Malaysia is offering a pre-order promo on the Huawei online store. The new laptops will be available nationwide from 24th April 2021. The first 1,500 customers will enjoy free gifts worth up to RM800. Here’s are the full pre-order details:
