COVID-19: 2,078 new cases today, total active cases exceed 20,000

Malaysia has recorded 2,078 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 377,132. There are 8 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 1,386.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,402 new recoveries and a total of 355,224 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 94.19% while the mortality rate remains at 0.37%.

There are currently 20,522 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 228 are in ICU while 93 require respiratory support.

Out of the 2,078 new cases today, 13 are imported while 2,065 are transmitted locally. Sarawak recorded the most with 589 cases, followed by Selangor with 457 cases, Kelantan with 290 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 153 cases.
