COVID-19: 1,739 new cases and 8 deaths today, total active cases rise to 15,574

Malaysia has recorded 1,739 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 360,856. There are 8 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 1,329.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,216 new recoveries and a total of 343,953 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 95.31% while the mortality rate remains at 0.37%.

There are currently 15,574 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 183 are in ICU while 81 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,739 new cases today, 8 are imported while 1,731 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 535 cases, followed by Sarawak with 443 cases, Sabah with 127 cases and Pulau Pinang with 113 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 8 new clusters today and half are from Sarawak. Below is the list of newly identified clusters:

A total of 50 clusters have recorded new cases today. The Cybersouth construction site cluster recorded the most with 180 new cases, followed by Jalan Kasawari cluster with 49 cases and Telok Mas cluster with 44 cases.
