Rapid KL announced yesterday that passengers can now bring full-sized bikes into the LRT (Light Rail Transit), MRT (Mass Rapid Transit), BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) and Monorail with no added charge. However, there is a time schedule for when passengers are allowed to bring their bikes in—as well as other conditions.

Hours

You’re allowed to bring foldable scooters and bikes from 10am – 3pm, and 8pm – 12am on Monday to Friday. On weekends and public holidays, however, you’re allowed to bring them in from 6am – 12am.

For non-foldable bikes, you’re only allowed to bring them on weekends and public holidays—from 6am to 12am. Rapid KL also notes that they might change travelling hours “from time to time”.

Lines

Foldable bikes and scooters are allowed to be on all Rapid KL lines. They include the Kelana Jaya LRT line, Ampang/Sri Petaling LRT line, the MRT, Monorail and the BRT. But non-foldable bikes are only allowed on the LRTs and the MRT.

Additionally, the graphic posted by Rapid KL shows which train doors you can wait at if you’re carrying a bike. You can wait at the first door of either end of the Monorail, MRT and Kelana Jaya Line LRT, and the fourth door of the Ampang/Sri Petaling line LRT.

Guidelines

The graphic also covers the guidelines—including that cyclists and scooters under the age of 12 must be accompanied by adults, that they need to take extreme caution to avoid bumping into strangers, and that they need to make sure that the bikes and scooters are clean, amongst other rules

For more information, you can visit their Facebook page, their website, or call them at 03-78852585.

KTM Komuter had also announced that they are letting bicycle riders bring their bikes into their commuters. But they are charging passengers a RM2 fee.
