COVID-19: 2,720 new cases and record high 5,718 recoveries today, active cases now below 45,000

Malaysia has recorded 2,720 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 269,165. There are 8 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 983.

The Ministry of Health has reported a record high 5,718 new recoveries and a total of 224,053 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 83.2% while the mortality rate is at 0.4%.

There are currently 44,129 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 253 are in ICU while 118 require respiratory support.

All 2,720 new COVID-19 cases reported today are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 1,300 cases, followed by Johor with 451 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 318 cases and Sarawak with 193 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 19 new clusters today and 14 are workplace related. Below is the full list of the newly identified clusters:

A total of 79 active clusters have recorded new COVID-19 cases today. The Damar construction site cluster recorded the most with 201 cases, followed by Jalan Segambut construction site cluster with 173 cases and Industri Cyber cluster with 161 cases.
