COVID-19: 3,318 new cases and 17 deaths today, active cases still over 51,000

Malaysia has recorded 3,318 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 258,306. There are 17 new deaths reported and the death toll is now at 953.

The Ministry of Health has reported 3,505 new recoveries and a total of 205,774 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 79.7% while the mortality rate is at 0.4%.

There are currently 51,579 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 258 are in ICU while 119 require respiratory support.

Out of the 3,318 new cases today, 7 are imported while 3,311 are transmitted locally. Selangor continues to record the most with 1,214 cases, followed by Johor with 742 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 374 cases and Kedah with 188 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 14 new clusters today and 13 are workplace related. Below is the full list of new clusters:

A total of 83 active clusters have recorded new cases today. The newly identified Jalan Seelong cluster recorded the most with 326 cases, followed by Tanjung Suria cluster with 258 cases and Selambau cluster with 136 cases.
