Foodpanda launches Pandamart, free delivery for the first four months

Just a few days after Grab’s official launch of their Grabsupermarket, Foodpanda officially launched Pandamart—a new feature in the Foodpanda app. The on-demand delivery service can send you groceries, household essentials, and even over the counter medication delivered directly from its own storage facilities, with no delivery fees for the first four months.

“We have now entered the era of quick commerce, alongside a parallel shift in consumer lifestyles and preferences all across the globe. Speed and convenience are becoming more important than ever before,” said Foodpanda Malaysia’s Director of Dark Stores, Ashutosh Gandhi.

Foodpanda currently has 25 locations for their dark stores. They include Bangsar, Setapak, Subang, Ampang/Cheras, Bukit Tinggi, Bukit Jalil, Petaling Jaya, KLCC, Puchong, Balakong, Kajang, Setia Alam, Kota Damansara, Shah Alam, Ara Damansara, Selayang, Sungai Buloh, Cyberjaya, and Mont Kiara. Besides the Klang Valley, they also have several stores in Penang—Bayan Lepas, Georgetown/Jelutong, Perai/Bukit Mertajam, Mount Austin, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and Permas Jaya.

The company also plans to expand their locations to Seremban, Melaka and Ipoh in the near future. They aim to expand to the rest of Malaysia in 2021.

“The first Pandamart went online in July this year. Pandamart offers a wide range of products to cover all your daily needs having more than 3,500 items from 100 international and local brands,” continued Ashutosh.

Here’s how to access Pandamart:

  • Fire up the Foodpanda app (iOS, Android)
  • Press on “Shops”
  • The nearest Pandamart should show up under “Fastest Delivery”. If it doesn’t show up in shops, you can try typing ‘Pandamart’ in the search bar. If that doesn’t work either, it means that the mart hasn’t yet launched near your area. Do check on the locations written above
  • Once you’re selected Pandamart, you can start shopping for your essentials!

Foodpanda notes that while they don’t have a delivery fee (for now), you’d still have to order groceries worth a minimum of RM5. If you don’t, you’ll still be charged RM5 as the minimum cost for service.

Pandamart also claims that you’ll be able to get your groceries as fast as 20 minutes after ordering. And if you order a lot of items, several riders may be assigned to deliver your goods.

As for the selection of goods, since they aren’t a hypermarket like Grabsupermarket, they have less options of the items you need. According to Ashutosh during their virtual launch, Pandamart is planning to expand their selection of items.

“These products are all sourced directly from the brands, hence the pricing is very competitive and the quality of the products are assured. We are pleased that we can provide our customers convenience and quality, without compromising on price,” added Ashutosh.

If you don’t mind not having that many options for your groceries, Pandamart is one of the quickest ways for you to get your items for no delivery fees, while still paying competitive prices for the stuff you want. But if you’d mind waiting a day for your groceries, Grabsupermarket can be your go-to if you need more variety.
