After 3 directors were remanded for bribing telco officials, several telco officials were also remanded to assist in investigations into an SMS scam case. Two individuals aged 39 and 47 years old were issued a remand order by Magistrate Siti Roslizawati Mohd Zanin for five days following an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

There are now a total of 6 individuals in remand for the case including a 49-year-old telco staff that was picked up on Tuesday evening.

According to The Star, a Chief Technology Officer and an employee of a telco company were arrested yesterday at the MACC headquarters. It was reported that the suspect had allegedly received bribes amounting to RM300,000 in stages to release a list of prepaid customer details from 2017.

It is believed that these phone numbers were used by syndicates to charge customers content services without their knowledge or consent. Three individuals including two Datuks were arrested earlier for giving bribes amounting to millions of ringgit to telco officials.
