Malaysia has reported 354 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 14,722. There are 6 new deaths reported in Sabah today and the death toll is now 152.
The Ministry of Health has reported 188 new recoveries and a total of 10,707 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 72.73% while the mortality rate is 1.03%.
There are currently 3,863 active COVID-19 cases in the country which are receiving treatment. 68 patients are in ICU while 25 require respiratory support.
Out of the 354 cases reported today, 2 are imported while 352 are transmitted locally. Sabah reported the most cases with 274, followed by 24 cases in Selangor and 10 cases each in Kedah and Sarawak.
There are 23 new cases reported today that has a recent travel history to Sabah. The Ministry has also identified 3 new clusters located in Sabah, Perak and Terengganu.
120 new cases reported in Sabah today are detected through close contact screening. In terms of active clusters, there are 22 new cases from the Ramai-ramai cluster and 13 new cases from the Benteng cluster in Sabah. Meanwhile, the Tembok cluster in Kedah and Perak has 7 new cases while the Remand Prison cluster in Penang has 7 new cases.
Since 1st October, over 250 new cases have been reported on a daily basis. Malaysia is currently facing its 3rd wave of the COVID-19 infections and it has recorded a total of 3,498 cases in the month of October so far.
