Hotlink Prepaid Unlimited: Add RM5 for unlimited hotspot

For those that regularly use their phones for WiFi hotspot, Maxis has just revised its Hotlink Prepaid Unlimited with a new unlimited hotspot offering. At just RM5 extra per month, you can enjoy unlimited hotspot for both RM35 and RM45 monthly plans.

To recap, the Hotlink Unlimited plans come with unlimited data and unlimited calls to all networks in Malaysia. The RM35/month option has a speed cap of 3Mbps while the RM45/month plan offers a higher speed cap of 6Mbps.

When the new unlimited prepaid was introduced, the only way to use hotspot is to purchase one of their add-ons which also provides uncapped speeds. The add-on starts from RM1 per hour with unlimited quota, RM3 for 3GB for 24 hours and RM10 for 5GB for 7 days.

Now you can enjoy unlimited monthly hotspot for RM5 and it will follow the validity of your current monthy pass. To maximise this feature, it is best to activate the unlimited hotspot pass as soon as your plan renews. Do note that the unlimited hotspot is also speed capped and it follows the speed of your monthly pass. The pass isn’t auto renewable and it also appears to follow the same FUP as the monthly plan.

To refresh your memory, the Hotlink Prepaid Unlimited pass has a high-speed data limit of 50GB for its monthly pass. Once you’ve hit your limit, the speed will be throttled to 512kbps, which Maxis says can provide a fairly good experience for standard definition video streaming, social media apps and internet browsing.

With this new update, you can enjoy unlimited data with hotspot usage capped at 3Mbps and unlimited calls for RM40/month. To enjoy the same perks at double the speed (6Mbps), it will costs you RM50/month.
