[ UPDATE 20/08/25 10:20 ]: Shopee has issued an official response on the matter. Full details here.

===

Online shopping has enabled us to get the things we want directly at our doorstep. In an ideal situation, your ordered items can be delivered on the next business day. Unfortunately, for one customer, it appears that his online order wasn’t delivered up to expectation.

Edmund Hoh had posted on Facebook claiming that his Shopee items were thrown into his home and the action was recorded via CCTV. He shared that he didn’t receive any phone calls prior to delivery and said that it’s no wonder why his recent purchases are always damaged. The video appears to have been recorded at noon on 19th August 2020.

From the one minute clip, a man which appears to be wearing a Shopee T-shirt had thrown a small box followed by two longer items into the customer’s car porch. Before leaving, the delivery guy appears to have snapped a photo, probably as proof that delivery has been completed. You can watch the full clip below:

It isn’t clear if the person shown in video is an actual Shopee Express staff or a contracted individual. We’ve reached out to Shopee for further clarification on the matter.

Personally, I’ve not encountered any issues with Shopee delivery. During the MCO, most e-commerce platforms including courier companies have engaged third party individuals to handle the surge of orders. In several cases for home addresses, they would call to make sure someone is at home to receive the package.
