COVID-19: Malaysia records 25 cases today, 16 are imported

Malaysia has recorded 25 new cases today which brings the total number of COVID-19 infections to 9,200. There are no new deaths reported and the death toll remains at 125.

The Ministry of Health has reported 28 new recoveries and a total of 8,859 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 96.29% while the mortality rate is 1.36%.

There are currently 216 active cases remaining which are isolated and receiving treatment. There are now 7 patients in ICU with 2 requiring respiratory support.

Out of the 25 new cases, 16 are imported while 9 are transmitted locally. The local cases include 2 foreigners detected in Kuala Lumpur through a random screening at an eatery and a Malaysian that was detected in Sabah during a pre-surgery screening.

There are also 6 new cases from the Tawar cluster with 5 in Kedah and 1 in Penang. The Tawar cluster currently has a total of 39 positive cases.

In terms of imported cases there are 11 returning Malaysians and 5 foreigners. This include 3 Malaysians returning from Saudi Arabia, 2 Malaysians from Pakistan, and one Malaysian each from Thailand, Hong Kong, Lebanon, Yemen, Indonesia and India. There are 2 foreigners that arrive from India, and 1 foreigner each arriving from Japan, Indonesia and the United Kingdom.

As of 12pm today, there are no red zones in Malaysia. Kulim has the highest number of active cases in the past 14 days with 17, followed by Kuala Muda with 14 cases and Baling with 13 cases. The states of Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Sarawak are currently fully green.
