Xiaomi has a new 34″ 144Hz curved gaming monitor, costs less than RM2,000

Xiaomi recently expanded its ecosystem of products and introduced the massive Mi 34” Curved Gaming Monitor. The curved monitor boasts a WQHD (3440 x 1440 pixel resolution) that is said to offer brilliant and detailed picture quality. 

The Chinese device maker claims the new monitor has a pixel density that is 2.5 times higher than a Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixel resolution) display and ensures extreme clarity of any visual content whether it is games, videos or photos. It offers a 121% sRGB wide colour gamut and up to 300 nits of adjustable brightness and a 3000:1 contrast ratio.

Besides that, the monitor has a 21:9 ultra-wide aspect ratio and it has a 1500R curvature that Xiaomi said is perfectly contoured for the average person’s field of view. It offers a panoramic view that maximises the picture displayed. 

The company claims that the wide display offers a more immersive experience when playing games and it also adds extra space for multitasking between different applications. Users are able to adjust their viewing position by adjusting the monitor’s height, tilting it forwards or backwards and swivelling it left or right.

As this is a gaming monitor, it has a 144Hz high refresh rate and has a 4 millisecond (ms) response time. Xiaomi says that this provides a responsive and smooth experience that is suited for gamers that need speed and accuracy during intense FPS matches.

The Mi Curved Gaming Monitor also supports AMD FreeSync so it is able to synchronise the monitor with the graphics output from your gaming laptop or desktop, ensuring a stutter-free, tear-free and low-latency experience while gaming.

During Xiaomi’s presentation during its Ecosystem Product Launch 2020, it compared the new Mi Curved Gaming Monitor to two other competing monitors: the LG 34GL750-B and Asus TUF Gaming VG35VQ. Based on the stats, the Xiaomi’s monitor offered the same 21:9 aspect ratio as the other two along with similar resolution, refresh rate and ports but was more competitively priced.

Gamers need not worry about tiring their eyes out when gaming for many hours as the monitor features flicker-free technology and boasts TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light certification.

In terms of ports, the monitor offers plenty to go around with two HDMI 2.0, two Display Port 1.4 along with one audio jack for connecting your speakers. According to Xiaomi, the Mi Curved Gaming Monitor’s dimensions measure at 810.39 x 520.61 x 242.53mm.

The Xiaomi said the Mi Curved Gaming Monitor 34” is priced from EUR 399 (about RM1,945) and will go on sale in Europe later this month. There is, however, no word as to which markets the monitor will be sold.
