MYTV: 157,276 free decoder registrations from B40 households and OKU so far

We’ve previously reported that B40 households and people with disabilities are able to receive free myFreeview digital TV decoders if they register their interest with MYTV. So far, there have already been 157,276 individuals that have signed up.

The 157,276 individuals (as of 25th May) that have registered will start receiving their decoders after the 31st May closing date. The deliveries will start throughout the country in stages from June onwards.

However, if you fit the bill and still want to get your free decoder, you’re in luck. MCMC has allocated an additional 300,000 free decoders and if you fit the bill, you still can request for a unit. According to them, this “would ensure that no one would be left behind in getting easy access to information as well as entertainment through the free and high quality digital TV broadcast”. Those who have yet to apply, can indicate their interest by filling a form here.

Once they’ve confirmed your eligibility, you should be able to type in your complete personal details including your name, identity card number, address and telephone number. You can also opt to call the MYTV Careline at 1800-18-1088/1-300-80-6988 if you’d rather talk on the phone.

myFreeview offers 15 TV channels and 6 radio stations. The channels provide information, entertainment, and TV home shopping opportunities. To tune in, you can watch it directly on a DVB-T2 compatible TV or use a decoder box with your existing TV.
