Prices of petrol in Malaysia have dropped for the last 6 weeks and the price of RON97 is currently the lowest since 2005. This week, prices for both RON95 and RON97 petrol remain unchanged but there’s a slight drop of 3 sen for Diesel.

Below is the new fuel prices which will take effect from 18th April until 24th April 2020:

RON95 – RM1.25/litre (unchanged)
RON97 – RM1.55/litre (unchanged)
Diesel – RM1.43/litre (-3 sen)
Diesel (Euro 5) – RM1.53/litre (-3 sen)

Prices of fuel could stabilise in the coming weeks as the US, Russia and Saudi Arabia have agreed to cut oil output by 20%. Prices of crude oil have fallen significantly since March as both Saudi Arabia and Russia have engaged in an oil price war while demand has dropped during the COVID-19 outbreak.

At the moment, Malaysia is in its 3rd phase of movement control order and everyone is still urged to stay at home and to go out only when it is necessary. The MCO is tentatively scheduled to end on 28th April 2020.
