MCO: All Ramadhan Bazaars including E-Bazaars are not allowed

Last week it was announced that Grab and several state authorities are kicking off E-Bazaars as a substitute to traditional Ramadan bazaars during the movement control order. At today’s press briefing, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has announced that all forms of bazaars including e-hailing are not allowed.

He said that the Federal Territories Ministry via KL City Hall (DBKL) had a discussion on e-IFTAR, which would allow stalls to sell Ramadhan delights and dishes. At today’s meeting, they have decided that all business activities that are related to bazaars which include drive-through and self-pickup will not be allowed.

With that, there is no longer an issue when it comes to Ramadhan bazaar or e-IFTAR as they are all not permitted. The minister also said that the current food delivery arrangements are still allowed to operate as usual.

Previously, Grab has announced an e-Bazaar program in collaboration with Selangor state government and Ministry of Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur. The digital bazaar only allows online purchases from the Grab app and it is said to comply with all food preparation regulations set by the Health Ministry. It was also reported that Selangor state government has identified 15 locations that will serve as central kitchens for the e-Bazaar.
