Grab merchants can accept payments via WhatsApp with 0% commission

The COVID-19 outbreak has severely affected a lot of businesses especially small restaurants and hawkers. To help these small eateries cope during these challenging times, Grab has announced several new initiatives to boost the income of its merchant partners.

Grab Small-Biz Relief

Grab has announced a Grab Small-Biz Relief (GSR) program which aims to provide financial relief up to RM3,000 for eligible GrabFood small-biz enterprises. This is targeted at micro and small enterprises that do not pay SST and have an average monthly sales of less than RM30,000 on GrabFood.

According to Grab, the relief comes in the form of a rebate for every order. Typically, restaurants will pay a commission to compensate for their delivery-partners and Grab assures that the new rebate will not affect their delivery-partners’ income.

More visibility for independent restaurants

Grab will be embarking on a “Local Heroes” campaign to boost the visibility and awareness for small and independent restaurants. The digital campaign will start on 1st of April.

Payments via WhatsApp, Facebook and etc.

To help small merchants to expand their reach, Grab is giving its eligible merchants a customised GrabPay link which will allow them to accept payments via WhatsApp, Facebook and etc. Grab users can still earn GrabReward points if they pay through this special link method.

On top of that, merchants can also accept voluntary self-pickup orders via GrabFood. Grab will waive all commissions for self-pickup orders.
