Under the newly announced RM250 billion economy stimulus package, eHailing drivers are now eligible to receive a one-off cash-aid of RM500. This was announced by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin this afternoon.

He revealed that 120,000 eHailing drivers will benefit from this allocation which is valued at a total of RM60 million. In the initial stimulus package that was announced by Tun Mahathir in February, taxi drivers will receive one-off RM600 cash aid from 1st April 2020.

The latest announcement should be good news for registered eHailing drivers throughout the country. Previously, MeHDA, the association that represents eHailing drivers had expressed disappointment that its drivers were not included in the stimulus package. They shared that drivers income were also affected due to the COVID-19 outbreak. It was reported that there are approximately 100,000 eHailing drivers with PSV licence throughout the country.
