Realme’s first device for 2020 is a budget quad-camera smartphone

The Realme 5 series is getting another new member with the arrival of the Realme 5i next week. This could be a cheaper variant of the Realme 5 but it still retains a quad-camera setup for the rear.

Ahead of the announcement, the device has already appeared on a Vietnamese online store and it’s available in green and blue. At the moment, it is listed for VND 4,290,000 (around RM755) for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage version.

In terms of design, it looks identical with a vertically aligned quad-camera setup and it has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The display is likely to be a 6.5″ HD+ display like the other Realme 5 models and it still comes with a tiny notch at the top.

The device which has the model number RMX2030 has appeared on Geekbench database and it is running on a Snapdragon 665 processor with 4GB of RAM. It is speculated that the Realme 5i is positioned right below the Realme 5 as it is expected to feature a lower resolution 8MP selfie camera instead of a 13MP sensor. There’s no mention of the rest of the specs but we think it should still retain a large 5,000mAh battery.

At the moment, the device is scheduled to be launched in Vietnam on the 6th of January 2020. The Malaysian launch should be happening soon as the device has already passed our local SIRIM certification earlier this week.

In case you missed it, the Realme 5s was announced in Malaysia last month and it is priced at RM799. It also gets a quad-camera setup but the main sensor is upgraded with a 48MP shooter. It still runs on a Snapdragon 665 processor and it is configured with 4GB RAM and 128GB of storage. Powering the device is a 5,000mAh battery but it doesn’t support VOOC fast charging.
