It looks like the Galaxy S11 and S11+ won’t have a big size difference

As the year draws to a close, we’re getting more and more Samsung Galaxy S11 leaks, and the latest one comes from leakster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) and it gives us a glimpse at what these smartphones will be like as far as size is concerned.

If these leaks are true, then we’ll be getting three different Galaxy S11 models–similar to what we got with the S10. There’s the smallest Galaxy S11e, the S11, and the S11+. However, what’s interesting to note from these protective film sizes is that the difference in size between the S11 and S11+ doesn’t seem to be very significant.

Currently, with the Galaxy S10 and S10+, there is a noticeable difference in footprint. I personally prefer the size of the Galaxy S10 to that of the S10+ because it fits more comfortably in my hands and pockets, without really sacrificing too much on what I think is an immersive experience.

However, with the S11, it looks like that difference won’t be too big, and that’s both a good and bad thing. The bad thing, obviously, is that Samsung could be gradually removing the smaller form factor altogether from their high-end flagship series, instead leaving those duties to the traditionally watered down S11e model.

On the other hand, one of the nice benefits of having a bigger body is that the smartphones could feature a much larger battery than previously possible. And battery life was always one of the major concerns for me when opting for the smaller device. Small body usually equals smaller battery, that’s just the law of the universe.

Besides that, we’re also seeing that the forehead and chin on these smartphones have been reduced to practically nothing, now. That being said, there’s no real way of telling of the smartphone will feature a punch-hole camera, but if an earlier design leak is to be believed, then the new phone will have one right in the centre. So, no under-display camera shenanigans this time.

Other leaked specs hint at a new 108MP 1/1.3″ Samsung-exclusive custom sensor, which will be very interesting to see in action. Samsung hasn’t really messed around with their main camera in their flagship smartphone in a while, so I’m psyched to see what they’ve got in store for the S11+.

That is, if they even end up calling it the Galaxy S11 at all. After all, we found out earlier this week that Samsung could very well be calling their new smartphone the Galaxy S20, to mark the start of a new decade. I’m personally not a fan of this, but we’ll see how it actually pans out in the end.
