Vivo Malaysia has just launched their brand new smartphone, the Vivo V17 locally. It’s a mid-range smartphone with the world’s slimmest in-display font camera design. Here’s everything you need to know.

Pricing & Availability

There will only be one spec variant of the Vivo V17 available in Malaysia and it comes with a generous 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. This smartphone will retail for the following price:

Vivo V17 Pro—8GB RAM, 256GB storage—RM1,699

Vivo’s new phone will also come in two different colours: Admiral Blue and Crystal White, with both colourways available in Malaysia on the 21st of December 2019. The smartphone will be available for pre-orders on all of Vivo’s channels including the Vivo online store, but it’s unclear if it will appear in Vivo’s official Lazada and Shopee stores just yet. It’ll also be available in-stores and if you pre-order in Vivo Concept Stores you’ll get an additional 1-year screen crack warranty and 2 years phone warranty.

Vivo V17 Specs

Vivo’s new smartphone is powered by a mid-range processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675E, that’s mated to 8GB of RAM and a generous 256GB of internal storage. There’s also a large 4,500 mAh battery inside to keep the lights on.

The smartphone’s key feature is its 6.44″ Super AMOLED Ultra O Screen. It’s a punch-hole display and is apparently the slimmest of its kind in the industry. The display itself also has a 20:9 aspect ratio so it’s rather tall. It also possesses an in-display fingerprint scanner.

For photos, the smartphone sports a quad-camera at the back with a 48MP wide camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP bokeh camera for depth effects in portrait photography. Up front, there’s a 32MP selfie shooter in that tiny little punch hole.

This device is the sister smartphone of the Vivo V17 Pro and it’s pretty similarly specced. There are three major differences that separate the phones, and that includes the fact that the V17 Pro has a motorised selfie camera, a smaller battery and a smaller storage. Well, that and the Pro has a different look.

It’s also worth noting that both the Vivo V17 and Vivo V17 Pro debuted at the same retail price of RM1,699. However, currently you can pick up the V17 Pro at just RM1,499 on the Vivo official store.
