The successor to the hugely-popular Redmi K20—or the Xiaomi Mi 9T in global markets—is set to be announced on December the 10th, with some information already available on the Redmi K30.
In a new post on the Redmi Weibo page, the company revealed that the upcoming K30 will feature a pretty big 4,500mAh battery. But the stat that Redmi is shouting about here is the charging speeds that the K30 boasts.
According to an image included in the Weibo post, the Redmi K30 can be charged from empty to full in just one hour with a wired 30W charger. For some comparison, the current Xiaomi Mi 9T only supports up to 18W, with the Pro version supporting up to 27W.
Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 has a 5,260mAh battery that Xiami says can be fully charged in 65 minutes with 30W, while the Mi 9 Pro 5G’s 4,000mAh battery can reportedly be charged from 0 to 100% in 48 minutes—although that’s using a 40W charger.
To recap, the Redmi K30 will feature a quad-camera setup with a vertically-aligned camera array, and will be Xiaomi’s first dual-mode 5G smartphone that supports both 5G non-standalone (NSA) and standalone (SA) architecture.
In addition to that, Xiaomi has just announced that the K30 series will feature the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 chipset, including the 765G. This could mean that there will be a “Pro” variant that utilises the 765G—a higher performance version of the SD765.
There aren’t any details (yet) regarding a global release of the Redmi K30, but if things go well, perhaps we will see a global version under the Xiaomi banner sometime in the future. In the meantime, we’ll keep you updated on any updates on the Redmi K30—hopes are certainly high that the K30 could replicate the K20’s success.
