If you’re looking for an alternative way to own a hot hatch, Renault Malaysia has announced its subscription service for the Megane RS 280 Cup. This allows you to drive home the Megane from RM3,999/month with road tax, insurance and service included.
The Megane RS 280 Cup is powered by a 1.8-litre 4-cylinder turbo direct-injection engine that produces 280PS of power and 390NM of max torque. In Peninsular Malaysia, it is officially priced at RM279,888 for the manual transmission model and RM299,888 for the dual-clutch EDC automatic variant.
With the subscription service, all you’ll need is to place a RM6,000 security deposit and pay the monthly subscription fee that starts from RM3,999 for the manual version on a 3-year contract. The automatic version is also available at RM300 extra/month.
One and two-year options are also available, but the monthly subscription fee will be significantly higher. Do note that there’s a mileage cap of 20,000KM per year but you can add 10,000KM more for an additional fee of RM400/month.
Wear and tear costs such as tyres, brake pads, wheel alignment and wiper blades are not covered in the subscription. Unlike other Renault models such as the Koleos and Capture, there’s no optional wear & tear bundle for the Megane.
Renault Captur with Megane RS access
For those who are interested in getting a Renault Captur and want to experience the Megane RS, they have also added the hot hatch into its Switch Subscription option. For RM1,999/month for a period of 1 year, you can get 2-months access to the Renault Koleos and Megane RS. If you want to experience the Koleos and Megane RS for a longer period, there’s the Prime option with 4-months access that costs RM2,199/month.
We are told that there’s a duration limit for the Megane RS on the Switch subscription option. On the Base plan, you can drive the car for 2 weeks while the Prime plan offers one-month usage. For the remaining duration, you’ll have to switch to the larger Koleos SUV.
The Switch subscription is tied to a 1-year contract and it has unlimited mileage. In addition, the monthly fee also includes wear & tear for the Captur.
