Galaxy A50s passes SIRIM, may come with Samsung Pay

It looks like Samsung is bringing its refreshed Galaxy A lineup to Malaysia very soon. After the Galaxy A30s was certified by SIRIM, two more models have also gotten the green light and one of it is the Samsung Galaxy A50s.

The Galaxy A50s was listed with the model number SM-A507FN/DS while the other device is the Galaxy A20s which carries the model number SM-A207F/DS. The Galaxy A20s is expected to be a budget entry-level device and it only supports 802.11n WiFi and Bluetooth. For the Galaxy A50s, which is the successor to the current Galaxy A50, interestingly, it comes with NFC support along with the usual 802.11ac WiFi.

NFC is a hardware which is required for Samsung Pay and it allows you to use your smartphone to replace your existing Visa Paywave and Mastercard Paypass cards. NFC support was not included in the Malaysian variants of Galaxy A30 and A50 and it seems that Samsung Malaysia could be leveraging on Samsung Pay as a key differentiator in their latest mid-range offering.

The Galaxy A50s is also expected to launch in India very soon and their teaser has confirmed that it will support Samsung Pay. A few weeks ago, Samsung Malaysia has officially released the Galaxy A10s for our local market and we believe it shouldn’t take too long for the rest to arrive.

Samsung Galaxy A50s specs

To recap, the Galaxy A50s features a 6.4″ Full HD+ Super AMOLED display as the current A50 and it appears to run on the same Exynos 9610 Octa-Core chipset. The device can be configured with up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB of storage.

Apart from the new refreshed back design with holographic geometric patterns, the Galaxy A50s gets a newer triple-camera setup that consists of a 48MP f/2.0 main camera, 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 5MP depth camera. The selfie camera has been upgraded too from a 25MP to 32MP.

Like the current A50, you also get a large 4,000mAh battery that supports 15W fast charging via USB-C. You can check out the full specs below:
