OnePlus has settled on an obvious name for its Smart TV: OnePlus TV

And that’s after a year of deliberation, including a naming competition held on their forums. A representative of the company announced via OnePlus’ forums the name of the upcoming Smart TV—OnePlus TV—along with an accompanying logo. This isn’t the first time that OnePlus has made announcement via its forum, as opposed to a more conventional advertisement that other companies have gone with.

“Yes, we are going to call our very first smart TV product ‘OnePlus TV’—simple yet to-the-point—as we believe there’s no other name that can best represent our value, vision and pride than naming it with our own brand.”

The new logo will also basically be the OnePlus logo, with ‘TV’ alongside it. This is supposedly inspired by “classic geometric progression”, paying tribute to classic art forms like “the ancient Hindu symbol, the mandala, and the famous ancient Greek temple”.

The Chinese tech company has kept their promise, however, and states on the forum that it will still reward the first user who named the project ‘OnePlus TV’. It’s a little strange, to be fair, as the contest itself was called: “OnePlus TV: You Name It”. The post ends with a teaser for users to “stay tuned”, with more exciting news coming soon.

At the very least, this does confirm that the OnePlus TV is indeed coming soon, after OnePlus revealed last year that they were planning to launch a Smart TV of their own. Ambitious, and certainly something that we’re eagerly awaiting. There isn’t any news on whether the TV will be available in Malaysia yet, so keep heading back for any updates.
