A few months ago, Xiaomi had shown off a new 100W fast charging technology that can fully charge a smartphone in just 17 minutes. If that’s not quick enough, Vivo is introducing an even faster fast charging technology that boasts an insane 120W output. That’s almost double the power of most laptop chargers.

According to Vivo, its new Super FlashCharge 120W charger can fully charge a 4,000mAh battery in just 13 minutes. Looking at their Weibo post, this could be released with its upcoming 5G smartphone.

A Vivo product manager had also shared a video demonstrating the Super FlashCharge technology. In the short clip, it can do 10% to 12.8% charge in 16 seconds, which is about 6 seconds to push 1% charge. Assuming it can maintain a linear charging rate, the technology could push 0-50% charge in just 5 minutes.

MWC Shanghai is taking place next week and it is likely that Vivo will have a showcase of the technology at the venue. Meanwhile, Oppo will be showing off its under-display selfie camera technology at the same event.
