A popular file utility app, ES File Manager, was just removed by Google PlayStore due to unethical activities which could put your smartphone at risk. It was reported that the ad-supported app was automatically clicking on its own ads on behalf of users.
The app is currently owned by Du Global, which is a subdivision of DO Global, a developer that’s currently found to be involved in click fraud scandals. It was reported 46 of their apps have been removed from the Google PlayStore. The app is also no longer listed as an ad inventory via Google’s AdMob network.
If you still have ES File Explorer on your device, it is advisable that you uninstall it as soon as possible to prevent malicious activities. You can use other alternatives such as Astro File Manager.
