SMART tunnel finally gets 4G coverage

The SMART tunnel which connects Jalan Tun Razak and Bukit Bintang to KL-Seremban Highway is a road tunnel that also doubles up as a stormwater tunnel. If you’ve driven through this underground road, you’ll definitely notice that mobile reception isn’t that great.

To improve on connectivity, SMART has announced that they have upgraded its communication infrastructure from 2G to 4G.

The upgrade exercise was mentioned a few months ago and it appears that you can now enjoy high-speed 4G connectivity in the tunnel.

This is great for those who rely on music streaming for in car entertainment. For drivers, you can now reroute your map navigation quicker while driving in the tunnel.

Apart from SMART Tunnel, did you know that our new MRT line has 4G coverage end-to-end? The big four telcos are able to push more than 20Mbps downloads, which is more than enough to deliver a buffer-free YouTube streaming experience.

If you use SMART Tunnel on a daily basis, how’s your mobile experience so far? Let us know in the comments below.
