Netflix has just announced price hikes for its Mobile, Basic, Standard, and Premium plans by up to RM7.90/month more than before, which takes effect starting today, the 14th of November, 2024 at 10 AM. However, if your Netflix subscription is tied together with your Astro subscription, the effective dates for the new prices might be different for you.
Here’s when the new Netflix prices will start for Astro customers
If you already have Netflix bundled in your Astro subscription packs, you will not see the price change take effect until 1st of March, 2025. Until then, the current subscription prices for these bundles will remain in place.
However, if you are signing up for the Netflix add-on starting today, the new prices will be applied immediately.
As for customers who subscribed to Netflix via Astro prior to the 14th of November, 2024, the price change will only take effect from their billing cycle starting on or after the 21st of November, 2024.
Astro says affected customers will receive a notification via email before the new Netflix subscription pricing takes effect, to make sure they are fully informed. Anyhow, you can visit Astro’s website for further information.
This price update marks the first one Netflix has implemented this year here in Malaysia, with the last one having taken place in February 2023 when the monthly pricing of Netflix’s Basic plan was reduced from RM35 to RM28.
Netflix subscription is bundled in 6 Astro packs
There are a total of six Astro packs that include Netflix in the form of a bundle:
- Sport Plus Pack – RM129.99
- Movie Plus Pack – RM129.99
- Entertainment Plus Pack – RM129.99
- Premium Pack 2 – RM149.99
- Premium Pack 3 – RM154.99
- Platinum Pack – RM194.99
If the Astro pack you subscribe to does not include Netflix, you can still include it as an add-on. According to Astro’s FAQ, prices of the Add-On Netflix are the same as a normal Netflix subscription.
