During the Budget 2019 announcement, the government had urged consumers to be more involved in the monitoring of the prices of goods. The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs has released a Price Catcher app where you can compare the prices of goods based on your current location.
The app is available for both iOS and Android devices. Alternatively, you can also access the Price Catcher on their website.
If you stumble upon unscrupulous traders that are selling overpriced goods, you can file a complaint directly with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs. The government is also allocating RM20 million towards effective enforcement efforts.
