World Emoji day Apple

17 July marks World Emoji Day and to celebrate the occasion, they have announced more than 70 new emoji characters that will be coming soon to the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac. This will be pushed through a software update later this year and they are based on the latest set of characters released by Unicode Standard version 11.0.

To present people better, the latest emoji set offers various hair options including red hair, grey hair, curly and even a clean shaven bald emoji. There’s also more expressions such as cold face, party face and a face with hearts. Even for animals, the latest unicode 11.0 now adds kangaroo, peacock and even the lobster.

In addition, there is more food emojis and there’s even one for mooncake which hopefully will be released just in time for the mid-autumn festival in September.

To embrace World Emoji Day, Apple has also changed the faces of its leadership team to emojis of themselves. These Memoji avatars are a new feature on iOS 12 where you can turn yourself into an Emoji. This is somewhat similar to AR Emoji on the latest Galaxy S9 series.
