This post is brought to you by Huawei.

The P20 and P20 Pro are Huawei’s current top of the line devices. It offers a stunning glass and metal design with an impressive photography capability with up to 3 cameras. For those looking for something more affordable, the Nova 3e is your next best alternative.

It gets a high 24MP pixel count for its selfie camera and it packs a generous 128GB storage which is very rare for a mid-range smartphone.

Premium Glass and Metal build

The Huawei Nova 3e gets a similar exterior design as the flagship P20 series. It uses glass for both front and back with a smooth metal frame for a premium feel in the hands. At the rear, the cameras and branding are vertically-aligned which mimics a point and shoot camera when held in landscape mode. Overall, it looks clean and it uses a smooth 2.5D curved glass panel for a premium look and feel.

Bigger screen in a compact form factor

The Huawei Nova 3e comes with a 5.84” FullView Display 2.0 that’s similar to the P20. It has a narrow notch which is smaller than the iPhone X. If the appearance of the notch bothers you, you have to option to hide it under settings.

You can enjoy clear visuals with its Full HD+ display and it feels compact in the hands thanks to its thin bezels. With a pixel density of 432 pixels per inch, on screen text appear sharper and you can get richer and vivid colours from the display with its 96% NTSC super high-colour gamut.

Double the camera, double the fun

The Nova 3e has dual-camera lens that ticks all the right boxes. It gets a 16MP main and a 2MP secondary unit for bokeh effects. This will create a blurred background which adds more impact to your portrait photos.

Over at the front the Nova 3e has a 24MP selfie camera which is the highest resolution for the Huawei Nova series. For perfect selfies all the time, it gets Face Beauty Mode 4.0 and for added fun, it also supports dynamic backgrounds and effects with AR Lens.

Like most premium flagship smartphones, the Nova 3e can take selfies in Portrait mode despite having just a single front camera. You can tweak the level of beautification according to your preference.

Need to take a wefie or to capture a wider view? The front camera has panorama mode so that nobody gets left behind.

Low light situations are no longer a problem with this selfie superstar. With its 4-in-1 light fusion technology, the Nova 3e can take clear and bright photos with significantly less grain than typical selfie cameras.

Smooth performance with lots of storage

Despite being an affordable alternative to the P20, the Nova 3e is no slouch. It gets a capable Kirin 659 processor and 4GB of RAM that offers a smooth and reliable performance with its optimised EMUI 8.0 operating system. On top of that, it comes with 128GB of storage, which is a lot of space to store all your apps, videos and photos. On top of that, the Huawei Nova 3e comes with a microSD card expansion slot and it still retains a 3.5mm headphone jack.

To keep the phone running at tip top condition, the Nova 3e uses Huawei’s machine learning algorithms to optimise its CPU, memory and storage management. This allows your phone to run smoothly even after 18 months of usage.

Unlock instantly with your Face

The Nova 3e comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor but you do have the option to unlock the device with your face. Using its facial recognition feature, it can unlock in less than 800 milliseconds which is insanely quick. Just lift the phone to your face and you’re in.

This facial recognition feature is also more secure that you think. The front camera can analyse over 1,000 facial points and it is designed to prevent unauthorised unlocking by using a photo or video. For better privacy, there’s also the option to hide all notifications on the screen until it’s unlocked by your face.

Get it now at a lower price

The Huawei Nova 3e is a smartphone that offers a lot of features for your money. It has a premium build, great specs and a 24MP front camera that will certainly up your selfie game. The Nova 3e can be yours for only RM1,320 with 0% GST.

Initially, this selfie superstar was only available in Blue and Black. Now you can get the Pink Gold edition that’s available in limited units. On top of that, Huawei is also bundling a Huawei Tripod Selfie Stick worth RM69 while stocks last. You can get it at a Huawei Experience Store near you.
