SOCAR lets you book a one-way ride to KLIA and KLIA2

Car-sharing platform, SOCAR, has officially announced a brand new way to commute to KLIA and KLIA2. If you’re heading to the airport, you can book the car you want with SOCAR’s one-way feature. There’s no need to return the vehicle, and your booking ends when you drop it off at the airport car park.

The feature is available for a while now and you can book it from selected SOCAR zones that are marked with “One Way”. To book as a one-time way trip, just ensure that you select KLIA1 or KLIA2 as the drop off zone.

There’s a one-way fee of RM50 on top of the regular booking fee. Since it takes an hour to drive to the airport, a VW Polo will cost you RM58 (RM8 + RM50), while the Honda City costs RM64.90 (RM14.90 + RM50). If you need a bigger ride, the HRV will cost you RM67 (RM17 + RM50). Do note that an hour usage comes with only 30km of mileage so you’ll be charged slightly more for excess KM. When we tried it last week, it costs us an extra RM6.75 for additional 27KM of usage.

For the convenience of the next user, just leave the parking token in the vehicle and state the parking location in the comments. Petrol is included with SOCAR but you’ll need to pay for tolls with your own Touch n Go card.

For those arriving by flight at KLIA and KLIA2, you can also look out for hot one-way deals. These are basically discounted rides for SOCAR vehicles that are left at the airport. When we checked on the SOCAR app, the available vehicles are listed as free to book and we are told that you’re only required to pay for the parking (capped at 4 hours) while collecting the car. The only caveat is that you need to drive it back to its originating SOCAR zone.

To give SOCAR community members a spontaneous experience, they have also announced their one of a kind YOLO PASS. Each month a lucky SOCAR member will win a complimentary one-way SOCAR pass to the airport and a surprise flight ticket to a mystery location. You could end up in Siem Reap, Bali or at a beach in Phi-Phi island for the weekend.

To be in the running, just be a registered member and complete a booking on SOCAR. Winners will receive the SOCAR YOLO PASS on the first Friday of the month and they will be notified by text, message and phone call. At the moment, SOCAR Malaysia has 460 vehicles in the Klang Valley and they aim to have over 1,000 vehicles in the next 6 months.
