Maxis is the lead broadcast sponsor for RTM’s coverage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Out of the 41 matches available, 28 matches will be shown live while 13 will be delayed.
Apart from supporting the live telecast on free-to-air channels, Maxis is also enabling its subscribers to catch the biggest sporting event live anytime and anywhere on their mobile device. They have partnered with Astro to offer special World Cup Passes with free data.
With this special arrangement, you can watch all 64 World Cup matches live at only RM1 per match on Astro GO. For the best football experience, you also get free data to stream the match in HD on the Maxis 4G network.
To subscribe, just purchase the passes for the match you want via the Maxis or Hotlink application. You are advised to buy the passes at least 3 hours before the match begins and you will receive the coupon code within 2 hours. Take note that sales for the passes will not be available 3 hours before each match.
According to the FAQ, you will be charged upon receiving the match coupon and you’ll have to redeem your code here to start watching.
The pass is available now so you can purchase them in advance. The first match between Russia and Saudi Arabia is taking place this coming Thursday, 14 June at 11:00 PM Malaysian Time. Do note that the free data is only used to stream World Cup matches on the Astro GO app or web portal.
If you’re a Maxis postpaid subscriber, just download the myMaxis App which is available on Google Play and AppStore. For Hotlink subscribers, you can download the Hotlink RED app on Google Play and AppStore.
As an added bonus, Maxis has also introduced a Bola Raya app that’s packed with football-themed AR features. You can download the app on Google Play and App Store.
