OPPO F5 6GB in Red will be available for pre-order in Malaysia next week

The OPPO F5 was launched in Malaysia recently but if you’re looking for something with more grunt, the higher spec 6GB version is coming to our shores very soon.

According to OPPO Malaysia, the F5 Red Edition with 6GB of RAM will be available for pre-order starting next Wednesday, 6th December at 12:30pm. The first 1,000 pre-order customers will also get to receive a mystery gift from OPPO Malaysia.

OPPO Malaysia has yet to reveal the official price and actual availability, but the price is definitely higher than the standard F5 that carries an RM1,298 price tag.

To recap on the specs, the OPPO F5 comes with a 6.0″ FullHD+ display that comes with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, it gets a 16nm 2.5GHz MediaTek (MT6763T) Helio P23 processor that’s mated to 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage which is expandable via microSD. As a comparison, the standard OPPO F5 has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

It also gets a 16MP f/1.8 main camera while the front comes with a 20MP f/2.0 selfie shooter with AI beautification enhancement. The OPPO F5 gets a 3,200mAh battery and it runs on Android 7.1 out of the box with ColorOS 3.2. If you’re interested, the OPPO F5 6GB pre-order page is located here.

OPPO F5 Youth

Apart from the OPPO F5 6GB version, there’s also a budget variant that’s called the OPPO F5 Youth. Looking at the spec sheet from the Philippines, the OPPO F5 Youth looks identical but it has a lower hardware spec with just 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage. The optics are a notch lower as well with a main 13MP f/2.2 camera and a front facing 16MP f/2.0 shooter. This budget version is expected to arrive in Malaysia sometime in December 2017.
