OnePlus 5T whoops the rest in its own screen-on charging test

The OnePlus 5T‘s Dash Charge technology is still one of the world’s fastest when it comes to replenishing your phone’s battery. While others have tried to catch up, OnePlus wants you to know that they are still the fastest in their own comparison video.

To make it even more interesting, the side by side charging test was conducted while the screen is always on. Usually, fast charging is only possible when the phone is in a sleep state.

After 30 minutes on the cable, the OnePlus 5T with its 5V 4A output had managed to charge 57% which OnePlus reckons is enough for a full day of usage. Meanwhile, the rest had failed to even hit 20% charge with the iPhone 8 Plus getting 16% charge while the Galaxy S8+ doing 17%. Meanwhile, the Pixel 2 XL had only managed to get just 11% charge.

During the early part of the video, there’s a disclaimer that says actual charging times may be depended on the phone’s configuration so it isn’t clear if all of them are using the most optimal charging bricks for the test. From our experience with Dash Charging on the current OnePlus 5, we could easily get 55-60% charge in just 30 minutes.
