As a tech enthusiast, you have got to love Acer sometimes. Not because they always make the best products, but because they have the balls to take the leap and do what they want to do regardless of the circumstances. Last year, they gave us the absolutely bonkers Predator 21X.
This year they decided to cram most of that craziness into a chassis that’s thinner than 2cm. It’s called the Predator Triton 700 and starting today, you can pick one up for less than you’d expect.
What kind of beast are we talking about here?
The best kind. Inside, you can configure the Predator Triton 700 to feature up to an Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, 32GB of DDR4 memory, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Max-Q GPU and 512GB of PCIe SSD storage (256GB+256GB in RAID 0) all in a chassis that’s just 18.9mm thick.
What’s more, you can also get this device with up to a Full HD 1920×1080 pixel IPS display with G-SYNC and a 120Hz refresh rate.
Keeping the lights on is a 54Wh battery, which isn’t really going to last you super long considering the specs. It does have a pretty decent selection of ports including a USB Type-C port that supports Thunderbolt 3, a 10Gbps USB 3.1 Gen 2 port, three USB 3.0 ports (one of which has power-off USB charging), one USB 2.0 port, a DisplayPort and HDMI 2.0 port with HDCP support.
It’s also got a Killer Wireless -AC 1535 that supports 2×2 MU-MIMO technology and an Ethernet port. For audio, the laptop has a 3.5mm headphone jack and a 3.5mm microphone jack. Both headphones and the onboard speakers will have Dolby Atmos sound enhancement.
Besides that, there is a more budget friendly variant that features a 60Hz display, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 GPU, 16GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage (128GB+128GB in RAID 0)
The Predator Triton 700 also features a mechanical keyboard — shallow but clicky keystrokes — and a peculiar glass trackpad that’s placed above the keyboard instead of below it.
Acer’s new Predator Triton 700 is priced at RM9,999 for the base model with the GTX 1060 while the high-spec variant with the GTX 1080 will retail at RM13,999. Both devices are available right now.
