HTC U11 Malaysia Pre-order officially open

If you’ve been eyeing on the HTC U11, the moment you’ve been waiting for has finally arrived. The squeezable flagship smartphone is now available for pre-order in Malaysia and it could be in your hands by end of this week.

The U11 is HTC’s brand new flagship smartphone that’s officially priced at RM3,099 in Malaysia. Over at the front, it gets a 5.5″ QuadHD Super LCD5 display and it runs on a Qualcomm Octa-Core Snapdragon 835 processor. For Malaysia, we are getting 6GB of RAM and a generous 128GB of storage which is expandable via microSD. Like the rest of the HTC U series, it gets a glossy Liquid Surface glass body which is more refined on the U11.

For taking pictures, it gets a 12MP f/1.7 main camera with OIS and it’s currently the highest rated camera smartphone by DxOMark. Meanwhile, the front gets a higher resolution 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera. In the audio department, the U11 features an updated BoomSound Hi-Fi speaker which is clearer and louder than before.

Like the previous U Ultra, the U11 still lacks a headphone jack but it comes bundled with a pair of USB-C based USonic in-ear headphones that now comes with Active Noise Cancellation. If you prefer to use your own pair of cans, HTC is bundling a USB Type-C to 3.5mm adapter which comes with a built-in DAC.

The U11 stands out as the only phone with a squeezing interaction. With the sensors located at the bottom half of the phone, you can customise the phone to launch your favourite apps or shortcuts by simply performing a short or long squeeze.

To catch up with other new flagship smartphones, the HTC U11 finally comes with IP67 dust and water resistance for better protection against accidental spills and submersion. Powering the U11 is a moderate 3,000mAh battery which supports QuickCharge 3.0 via USB Type-C. To learn more about the HTC U11, do check out our full review.

In terms of availability, the Amazing Silver unit is expected to ship starting 23 June while the other two colours, Brilliant Black and Sapphire Blue are listed to ship starting 30 June. If you’re interested, you can place your pre-order now on Lazada (DirectD), 11street (Satu Gadget) or at an authorised HTC retailer listed here.

During the local launch event, it was mentioned that Maxis will be the exclusive telco partner for the U11 but they have yet to offer any pre-order at the time of writing.
