The OPPO R11 has dual-cameras and Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 660 processor

OPPO is going full force with its photography-centric smartphones following its success with its R9 series. Now there’s a new one and the OPPO R11 is taking things up a notch with a dual-camera setup at the rear and a higher resolution selfie shooter. It’s also one of the first smartphones to run on Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 660 processor which offers up to 20% more performance than a Snapdragon 653.

Like its current series, the OPPO R11 gets a 5.5″ Full HD AMOLED display along with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. The R11 is still a full unibody metal smartphone but it has a new antenna band design which curves around the top and bottom edges with thin outlines.

For selfies, OPPO has bumped up its front camera from 16MP to 20MP. Over at the back, it finally gets a dual camera system but it isn’t their 5X Optical Zoom system which they introduced during MWC 2017. Instead, it gets a 16MP main shooter and a secondary 20MP camera for 2X zoom. The R11 also uses Qualcomm’s Spectra ISP for image processing.

According to its earlier listing, the R11 has a 2,900mAh which is likely to support VOOC Flash Charging. So far there’s no pricing yet and more details will be revealed by 10 June.

Apart from the OPPO R11, the Chinese smartphone maker is expected to release a larger R11 Plus that comes with a 6.0″ display. Based on its certification listing, it gets similar hardware under the hood but it comes with 6GB of RAM. Since it’s a bigger device, it is listed to come with a larger battery at 3,880mAh. Looking at the past launches, we could be getting just the 5.5″ OPPO R11 model for the Malaysian market.
