Infinix Mobile: Malaysia’s next big smartphone player?

Infinix Mobile dips its toes into the Malaysian smartphone market by launching three new smartphones here — the Hot 4 Pro, the Zero 4 and Zero 4 Plus. These phones seem to span most of the market, covering the entry level segment all the way to the upper mid range.

Infinix Hot 4 Pro

Starting things off with the entry level, Infinix’s Hot 4 Pro is a device that’s priced at RM599. For that kind of money, you’re getting a 5.5-inch 720p HD display, a MediaTek MT6737 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and a total of 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD). It’s also got dual-SIM support.

Augmenting that screen is a pair of stereo speakers — one in the earpiece and one at the back — that has support for 3D Stereo Surrounding using Dirac Stereo Widening. Keeping the lights on is a 4,000 mAh battery that Infinix says can go 2 days without the need to charge it. What’s more, the Hot 4 Pro also comes with a fingerprint scanner for ease of access and an added layer of security.

In the camera department, you’ll be getting a 13MP primary camera with a 5MP shooter in front to take care of selfies.

Infinix Zero 4

Moving up the ladder, you’ll find the mid-range Infinix Zero 4. This smartphone also comes with a 5.5-inch display, but resolution has been bumped up to Full HD. As far as internal specs are concerned, the Infinix Zero 4 will sport a MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that’s expandable via microSD. It’s also got support for two micro SIMs.

For photos, the Infinix Zero 4 comes with a 16-megapixel primary camera with an f/2.0 aperture camera optical image stabilisation and laser autofocus. In front, it’s got an 8MP snapper for selfies that also features a front-facing flash for improved low-light selfies.

There’s a fingerprint scanner on the back for ease of use and added security and a 3,200 mAh battery inside with support for 9V2A fast-charging. The Zero 4 will be priced at RM999.

Infinix Zero 4 Plus

If 5.5-inches isn’t enough, you can opt for Infinix’s phablet Zero 4 Plus instead. As far as specs are concerned, it is the Zero 4 on steroids. It bumps screen size up to 5.98 inches — though resolution remains the same — with a more powerful MediaTek Helio X20 deca-core processor inside paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage (also expandable via microSD).

Camera specs also get beefed up to a 20.7-megapixel primary snapper with OIS while the selfie shooter sees a bump up to 13MP. The battery is also larger, coming in at 4,000 mAh with support for fast-charging.

Unfortunately, Infinix’s Zero 4 Plus does not have an official price tag yet, though that will be announced in early April.

All three smartphones will be running Android Marshmallow out of the box with Infinix’s own XOS skin on top. The smartphones will also come with a one year warranty, and if you pick up the Zero 4 or Zero 4 Plus, you’ll also receive a 6-month screen warranty plus 1-on-1 phone replacement within the first 15 days for any hardware malfunctions.

These phones will be available for purchase from Lazada Malaysia and all authorised retailers nationwide. The Infinix Zero 4 and Hot 4 Pro will go on sale starting next week.
