SHARP Mobile enters the Malaysian market with the Z2 and M1

SHARP which is better known as an electronic appliance brand has finally introduced its smartphones in Malaysia. They have announced two new “mid-tier” devices – SHARP Z2 and SHARP M1, both priced under RM1,200.

Among the two smartphones, the SHARP Z2 is the higher-spec’ed device with a Deca-Core MediaTek Helio X20 processor with 4GB of RAM. The front gets a 5.5″ Full HD LTPS display and it has an 8MP f/1.8 selfie camera. Internally, it has 32GB of on-board storage which can be expanded further via microSD up to 128GB. For a more upmarket appearance, the Z2 gets a curved metal back design.

For taking pictures, it carries a 16MP camera with PDAF and EIS. The SHARP Z2 is juiced up by a 3,000mAh battery which supports quick charging. It is claimed that a 30-minute charge is enough to bring its battery levels up to 50%. Out of the box it runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and like most Android devices, the Z2 has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and dual-SIM support. Available in either Gold or Silver, the Z2 is priced at RM1,199.

The next device is more of a selfie-oriented device. In terms of design, it gets a 3D Corning Gorilla Glass at the rear which looks like a Mi Note. Similar to the SHARP Z2, it gets a 5.5″ Full HD display but under the hood, it gets a lower MediaTek MT6753 processor with 3GB of RAM.



Interestingly, it packs more on-board storage at 64GB and it is also expandable via microSD. In terms of camera, it features 13MP auto focus cameras for both front and rear. The front has a 77-degree wide-angle while the rear camera gets a wider 80-degree.

The battery is slightly smaller at 2,600mAh and it also runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The M1 comes in Hanayome White or Pure Pink and it is priced at RM899. The SHARP Z2 and SHARP M1 will go on sale in early November 2016 and it will be available at authorised dealers nationwide. The smartphones are distributed exclusively by Commtiva Technology.
