It’s finally here! The honor 8, easily one of the most-anticipated smartphones out of the Chinese company, has finally been launched in Malaysia. Here are the details!
As far as specifications are concerned, the honor 8 comes packed with a 5.2-inch Full HD display, a Kirin 950 processor and 4GB of RAM while a 3,000 mAh battery keeps everything running. You can also charge the battery quickly with a 9V2A fast-charger via the USB Type-C port at the bottom, but data transfer speeds are still based on the slower USB 2.0 standard. It will also be running on Android Marshmallow with Huawei’s EMUI 4.1 skin on top.
When it comes to storage, the honor 8 will come with a choice of 32GB or 64GB of onboard storage. If that’s not enough, it is expandable via a microSD card slot on the handset’s hybrid dual SIM tray for an additional 128GB of storage.
For imaging, the honor 8 sports a dual-camera setup — two 12-megapixel f/2.2 aperture cameras — where one shoots in colour while the other shoots in monochrome. If that sounds familiar to you, that’s because it’s the same sort of setup as the one you’d find on the Huawei P9 sans the Leica branding. In front, you get an 8MP selfie snapper with large 1.4micron pixels and an f/2.0 aperture.
Further, honor has packed a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on the back of the honor 8. This fingerprint sensor also has the 3D ridge scanning capabilities of the Huawei P9 so it should be pretty accurate. But that’s not all because the fingerprint sensor on the honor 8 can also double as a programmable button similar to the honor 7’s action key.
Honor has also gone all out with build and design, making the honor 8 one of the prettiest smartphones they’ve ever made. The handset is a symphony of glass and metal that just gleams in the sunlight and feels absolutely premium in the hand.
To top it all off, honor will also be offering “VIP Services” for after sales service. This includes a 12-month 1-to-1 swap service and a 3-month screen crack protection for both the front and rear glass.
The honor 8 will go on sale in Lazada, Vmall and DirectD from the 8th of September onwards. If you want to get your hands on this smartphone, you will have to choose between two colours for the low spec model (black or white) and two colours for the high spec model (Sapphire Blue or gold). You will also have to fork out RM1,699 for the 32GB model and RM1,899 for the 64GB model.
The good news is, honor will be including free gifts worth RM300 (powerbank, selfie stick, case) for those who buy the base model and free gifts worth RM500 (honor Band SS, case) for those who buy the high spec model. Keep in mind that these free gifts are limited to the first 300 customers that pick up an honor 8 (100 from Lazada, 100 from Vmall and 100 from DirectD).
